A new collection is SPRINGING FORTH

"It's spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you've got it, you want - oh, you don't quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!” - - Mark Twain

The holiday season may have been mainly about the festivities we shared with family and friends, the memorable vacations we were able to squeeze in our crammed schedules and the insurmountable amounts of food intake that we regrettably succumbed to. Nonetheless, also preoccupying our holidays, was having to deal with the horrid temperature drops, unrelenting chilly nights and the “sometimes unwelcomed” changes in the weather. Though these temperamental (literally) facets were expected of the season, what started out as unpleasant adjustments did set the overarching magical tone of the revelries.

The moods inside both Baterbys’ Orlando and Delray galleries mirrored the same alternating episodes of the holiday warmth and its intermittent frigidness. Elena Bond’s somber and subdued portrayals of empty street cafés, post-bustle city nightlife and nostalgic sunsets endowed us with a much needed pre-hiatus rumination as much as we were kept upbeat by the frolicsome and carefree characters of Michael Kachan, Dorit Levi and Marc Chagall.

Fortunately, as seasons come and go, so must our art collection. With the first day of Spring coming up this month, we thought we’d reintroduce some of our artists by featuring either their new collections or understated works.

These creations seasonably illustrate mosaics of blossoming nature, the pleasures of indulging in leisurely and slightly whimsical activities and simply, the gradual detachment from a bygone season as we embrace (and long for) the crisp newness of the forthcoming Spring.

As you step in our gallery this month, you will certainly be infected by the proverbial Spring fever – that fresh, yet familiar feeling you get when you’re anticipating something new breaking out on the horizon. More concretely, it’s like putting on new bed sheets; similarly, a new art collection will do just the trick.

Marc Chagall’s illustrations of French Ballet will finally grace our gallery; Elena Bond’s impressions of chic and rugged Italian villas, robust outdoor gardens and her signature, unpopulated street cafes, will also intensify that longing; and bringing to life a refined and elegant suburban sensibility, are some of William Vincent Kirkpatrick’s vivid masterpieces.

So far, the weather outside has been kind and discrete, very much unlike its Winter counterpart. Somehow though, you want to speed things up and bring that temperature down to its most charming and enjoyable levels. Don’t bottle up your patience and wait for it. Visit the gallery as we’ve already attained that picturesque scene, palpably Springing Forth from our walls.
