Spanish Masters Exhibit

Central to the development of Spanish art has been the host of influences that forward-thinking artists have embraced and advocated during different art periods. History reveals how Spain gradually became a melting pot of cultures, philosophies and political beliefs.

Though Spanish art has been evolving from the early Renaissance, Baroque and Rococo periods, it has culminated and achieved coherence during the 20th Century through the unification of thought and practice by artists such as Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Joan Miro, Francisco Goya, Juan Gris and Julio Gonzales amongst others.

The "Spanish Masters" exhibit focuses on the iconic works of Spanish Artists who have significantly contributed to the formation of several art movements, two of the major ones being Cubism and Surrealism. Through their groundbreaking ideas and wide influence, these individuals have transformed and redefined art. These groundbreaking ideas and transformations can be seen on upcoming posts as we explore the history of Spain and its effect on art.

Join Baterbys Art Gallery January 29th for the Spanish Masters Exhibit and unravel the development of Spanish art.
