You Are What You "Like"

"It is through art, and through art only, that we can realize our perfection; through art and art only that we can shield ourselves from the sordid perils of actual existence." - Oscar Wilde

Collecting art is a big part of culture as much as wearing the newest fashion trend or stacking your shelves with the latest novels and business books. These kinds of products represent how we see ourselves and how we want others to see us. Art, clothing and knowledge are some of the most observable and valid signs of a person's beliefs, status and general outlook on life.

In collecting art, we at Baterbys make sure it's kept simple: if you like a work of art, collect it. No intellectual or abstract reasons necessary. Of course, some information about the art is always useful. But nonetheless, liking how it looks should be able to stand on its own. Imagine having to forcefully justify why you bought a shirt from the mall or a magazine from a newsstand - it's just unnecessary because you can simply say, "I like it."

The same goes for art - if you like it, then you should definitely collect it! Your art collection is a touchstone of your sensibilities and every work of art that you view and collect enhances your “self”.

  1. Yes, it's cool to have at home something very special... I like it:to look at an artwork and believe, that this one was created just for me, just for my heart...

  2. I like art and I saw at your gallery some really good prints and paintings. ...but I believe, I can't afford it... Do you have something, what looks nice and not too expensive? And may I pay it for a few months?

  3. Lindy, Thank You! Yes! We do have more artworks that you may not have seen, that are more budget friendly. Just ask the sales staff! Simply tell them what you are looking for and your price range, and they will give you options to choose from. As far as monthly payments go, that can be arranged. But, you will not be able to take the artwork home until the payment has reached satisfaction.
